(4) Two Types of Karma (Two Actions)

Thus I have heard: One time, the Budha was staying at Anaathapindidas Ashrama in Jetavana of Shraavastii.

At that time, the Bhagavaan said to the bhikshus: “There are two types of karma (actions). What are these two?

They are Dharma-related karma and material-related karma.

Among these, the highest and most supreme is none other than Dharma-related karma.

“Therefore, bhikshus, you should cultivate Dharma-related karma and not material-related karma.

Thus, bhikshus, you should train yourselves in this way.”

When the bhikshus heard what the Budha said, they followed it with joy.
