1. 聞如是：一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。
Thus have I heard:
One time, the Budha was staying at Anaathapindidas Ashrama in Jetavana of Shraavastii.
2. 爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「於此眾中，無有一法勝此法者，若修行已、多修行已，受人中福，受天上福，得泥洹證。云何為一法？所謂不飲酒也。諸比丘！若有人不飲酒，生便聰明，無有愚惑，博知經籍，意不錯亂。如是，諸比丘！當作是學。」
At that time, Bhagavaan said to the bhikshus,
“In this assembly, there is no practice superior to this one: when cultivated and frequently practiced, it brings blessings in the human realm, blessings in the heavenly realm, and leads to the realization of Nirvana.
What is this practice?
It is abstaining from drinking alcohol.
Bhikshus, if someone abstains from drinking alcohol, they will be born intelligent, free from foolishness and confusion, well-versed in scriptures, and their mind will not be disturbed.
Thus, bhikshus, you should train yourselves in this way.”
3. 爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
When the bhikshus heard what the Budha said, they followed it with joy.
