- 聞如是：
一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。
Thus I have heard:
One time, the Budha was staying at Anaathapindidas Ashrama in Jetavana of Shraavastii.
2. 爾時，世尊告諸比丘：
「我於此眾，初不見一法不可降伏，難得時宜，受諸苦報，所謂心是。
諸比丘！
此心不可降伏，難得時宜，受諸苦報。
是故，諸比丘！
當分別心，當思惟心，善念諸善本。
如是，諸比丘！當作是學。」
At that time, the Bhagavaan addressed the bhikshus: “Among all things, I have never seen anything so difficult to be tamed, so hard to train, and bringing such suffering as the mind.
O bhikshus! This mind is hard to subdue, difficult to train, and brings much suffering.
Therefore, O bhikshus! You should carefully discern the mind, contemplate the mind, and cultivate wholesome roots. Thus, O bhikshus, should you train.”
3. 爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
When the bhikshus heard what the Budha said, they followed it with joy.
