1.聞如是：一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。
Thus have I heard:
One time, the Budha was staying at Anaathapindidas Ashrama in Jetavana of Shraavastii.
2. 爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「有此三法，不可覺知，不見、不聞，經歷生死，未曾瞻覩，我及爾等曾不見聞。云何為三？所謂賢聖戒，不可覺知，不見、不聞，經歷生死，未曾瞻覩，我及爾等曾不見聞。賢聖三昧、賢聖智慧，不可覺知，不見、不聞，如今我身并及汝等，皆悉覺知賢聖禁戒、賢聖三昧、賢聖智慧，皆悉成就，不復受有，已斷生死根原。是故，諸比丘！當念修行此三法。如是，諸比丘！當作是學。」
At that time, Bhagavaan addressed the bhikshus, saying, “There are three things that cannot be perceived, seen, or heard, and yet they are experienced throughout the cycle of birth and death. In the past, neither I nor any of you have ever seen or heard of them. What are the three?
They are the noble precepts (shila), the noble meditative concentration (samaadhi), and the noble wisdom (prajnya). These cannot be perceived, seen, or heard, and yet they are experienced throughout the cycle of birth and death. In the past, neither I nor any of you have ever seen or heard of them. But now, both I and all of you have fully realized the noble precepts, the noble meditative concentration, and the noble wisdom. We have accomplished them, no longer experience rebirth, and have cut off the root of birth and death.
Therefore, bhikshus, you should diligently cultivate these three things. In this way, bhikshus, you should train yourselves.”
3. 爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
When the bhikshus heard what the Budha said, they followed it with joy.
