- 我弟子中第一優婆塞，恒行慈心，所謂不尼長者是。
心恒悲念一切之類，所謂摩訶納釋種是。
常行喜心，所謂拔陀釋種是。
恒行護心，不失善行，所謂毘闍先優婆塞是。
堪任行忍，所謂師子大將是。
能雜種論，所謂毘舍御優婆塞是。
賢聖默然，難提婆羅優婆塞是。
懃修善行，無有休息，所謂優多羅優婆塞是。
諸根寂靜，所謂天摩優婆塞是。
我弟子中最後受證，所謂拘夷那摩羅是。
“Among my upaasaka disciples,
the foremost lay disciple who constantly practices loving-kindness (maitrī) is Elder Punna.
The one whose heart is always filled with compassion (karuṇaa) for all beings is Mahaanaama, the Sakyan.
The one who constantly practices joyful empathy is Bhadra, the Sakyan.
The one who constantly practices equanimity (upekṣaa) and never abandons wholesome conduct is the lay disciple Viira.
The one who is capable of practicing patient endurance (kṣānti) is General Simha.
The one skilled in diverse discourses is the lay disciple Vishaakha.
The one who is silently wise is the lay disciple Nandipaala.
The one who diligently cultivates wholesome deeds without rest is the lay disciple Uttara.
The one whose faculties are tranquil is the lay disciple Deva.
The one among my disciples who attained realization last is Kumaara Kassapa.”
2. 不尼、摩訶納 拔陀、優多羅
師子、毘舍、離 優多、天、摩羅
Punna, Mahaanaama,
Bhadra, and Uttara,
Simha, Vishaakha, and Nandipaala,
Uttara, Deva, and Kumaara Kassapa.
3. 四十優婆塞盡，當廣說如上。
