Thus have I heard:  One time, the Budha was staying at Anaathapindidas Ashrama in Jetavana of Shraavastii.

Then the Bhagavaan addressed the bhikshus: “When a Perfect One appears in the world, devas and humankind are bathed in radiance.  Faith arises in Shila, Shruta (learning), Dana and Prajna (wisdom) – just as the autumn moon shines in full splendor, unclouded, illuminating all directions.

In the same way, when a Tathaagata, an Arhat, a Samyak-Sambudha appears in the world, Devas and humankind are then graced with light, developing faith in Shila, Shruta (learning), Dana and Prajna (wisdom), like the full moon illuminating all without exception. Therefore, bhikshus, cultivate reverence for the Tathaagata. Thus, bhikshus, should you train yourselves.”

When the bhikshus heard what the Budha said, they followed it with joy.
