1.聞如是：
一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。
Thus have I heard:
One time, the Budha was staying at Anaathapindidas Ashrama in Jetavana of Shraavastii.
2. 爾時，世尊告諸比丘：
「我恒觀見一人心中所念之事，如屈伸臂頃而生天上。
所以然者，由善心故；已生善心，便生天上。」
Then the Bhagavaan addressed the Bhikshus: “I constantly observe that a person’s mental thoughts can lead them to be reborn in heaven as quickly as one can bend and straighten an arm. Why is this? Because of their wholesome mind – having cultivated wholesome thoughts, they are reborn in heaven.”
3. 爾時，世尊便說偈[1]言：
「設復有一人， 而生善妙心，
今告諸比丘， 廣演其義趣。
今正是其時， 設有命終者，
便得生天上， 由心善行故。
「是故，諸比丘！當發淨意，勿生穢行。
如是，諸比丘！當作是學。」
Then the Bhagavaan spoke this verse:
“If there is a person who generates wholesome and excellent thoughts,
Now I declare to all Bhikshus, explaining this principle in detail.
Now is precisely the time – should someone be facing death,
They will be reborn in heaven because of their mind’s wholesome actions.
“Therefore, Bhikshus! You should cultivate pure intentions and avoid unwholesome actions. Thus, Bhikshus, should you train yourselves.”
4. 爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
When the bhikshus heard what the Budha said, they followed it with joy.
