1.聞如是：
一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。
Thus have I heard:
One time, the Budha was staying at Anaathapindidas Ashrama in Jetavana of Shraavastii.
2. 爾時，世尊告諸比丘：
「我於此眾中，不見一法最勝最妙，眩惑世人，不至永寂，縛著牢獄，無有解已。
所謂男子見[2]女色已，便起想著，意甚愛敬，令人不至永寂，縛著牢獄，無有解已，意不捨離，周旋往來，今世後世，迴轉五道，動歷劫數。」
Then the Bhagavaan addressed the Bhikshus: “In this assembly, I perceive no phenomenon more powerful yet more deluding to worldly people, more obstructive to eternal peace, more binding to samsara’s prison without release.
That is: when a man sees a woman’s beauty, lustful thoughts arise; his mind becomes attached and infatuated. This prevents eternal peace, binds one to samsara’s prison without release.
The mind cannot abandon this, but keeps revolving through cycles – in this life and next, transmigrating through five destinies for countless kalpas.”
3. 爾時，世尊便說偈曰：
「梵音柔軟聲， 如來說難見；
或復有時見， 繫念在目前。
亦莫與女人， 往來與言語；
恒羅伺捕人， 不得至無為。
「是故，諸比丘！當除諸色，莫起想著。
如是，諸比丘！當作是學。」
Then the Bhagavaan spoke this verse:
“The Tathaagata’s voice, pure and gentle, rarely appears;
When occasionally manifest, fix it in present awareness.
Do not mingle or converse with women—;
They are like hunters’ snares, barring the path to the unconditioned.
Therefore, Bhikshus! Eliminate all forms, kindle no lustful thoughts. Thus, Bhikshus, train yourselves accordingly.”
4. 爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
When the bhikshus heard what the Budha said, they followed it with joy.
